"Searching for Binaries" running forever [message #740235] Tue, 18 October 2011 09:45

I have for some time now a strange observation:

A process "Searching for Binaries" is shown in the "Progress" view.
The progress bar shows the moving "....", not the progressing ones.
It prints: "Searching for Binaries (<project_name>): <always_the_same_filename>"
When I press the red squared "Cancel" button next to this item, it adds "(Cancel requested)", but never is actually cancelled.

In my workspace there are a number of identically configured projects.
I have seen the same process in the "Progress" view for other projects, too.
But they don't hang on that file and come quickly to an end.

However, it is always the same file, but the project varies... ?!?

Maybe another observation is related to this one:
When I close Eclipse, it saves my workspace and closes all the windows etc.
But when I then shutdown my PC, it tells me that there is an application "SWT_Window_Eclipse" that cannot be closed by Windows.
I then have to kill that program.

Please help.
