I'm unable to get any kind of intellisense-type functionality working.

Breakpoints are not enabled - doubleclicking in the left margin pops a New Bookmark dialogue. Right clicking in the left margin produces a menu of:

Add Bookmark...
Add Task...
Show QuickDiff
Show Line Numbers
Preferences

The Debug items in the Run menu are grayed out.

I installed the latest version, nothing has changed. Eclipse hates me.

In Eclipse, this is known as "Content Assist."

Has this ever worked for you? (I.e.: what's your history with
Eclipse--makes it easier to guess how to help.)

Did you install an actual Sun JDK and link it up via eclipse.ini?

What kind of project are you working on? If it Java, is the project your are working on an actual Java project. When you create the project, you have to select the correct type.
