hello

My Eclipse died, it was loading cpu to 100% all the time so I updated to latest
pdt version from sourcefourge.jp, at first I was amazed with speed, I found out
that version very fast! There were no lags as usual with some tasks.
After rebuild I noticed that I don't have much space left on drive. Eclipse
workspace is on C:, projects are on D:, Usually there was about half of 140GB C:
free, and now there is only 6GB free space. I made investigation and that leed
me to ...workspace...metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.dltk.core.index.sql.h2 which
is 60GB file.
Now I wonder if:
+ it's so huge because of dying Eclipse, maybe it enlarge this file because of
some error or so? Can I just delete that and rebuild?
+ or maybe that file is so big because of new, updated Eclipse version and that
is correct? the bigger index/cache the more speed?

60GB is not that much when everybody have TB drives, but this can be a problem
when I'll move that version to my laptop, there is much smaller SSD drive.

/dmc

Five tips for speeding up Eclipse PDT and nWire
4. Delete the database if your experience problems

Fully rebuilding DB (DLTK Indexing) may take some time, it depends on how many files there are in your workspace(and buildpath).

Ok, I deleted all indexes there, all files were about 63GB. After rebuild
Eclipse created files with ~180MB. That is much less than original. I think that
some problem occured there and old DB contained some trash.

There was no problem with speed or working with Eclipse, I was just suprised
that its so huge file just for index. On the other hand it's file from about two
years of work.

Yes, I know, I rebuilt everything and now it's much smaller file. +60GB of index
is bit too much :)

thanks for reply :)
