I definitely agree that eclipse and other tools who operate similarly,
such as Python's setup-tools and Ruby's Gem, should work better with
packaging systems. I realize that this is probably non-trivial to
implement.

Is this the proper place to ask about this stuff (and hope to
effectively help)? the page linked above seemed to indicate this is the
place, but I didn't see any other discussion on the matter in the news
group.
