moved from null to null [message #698271] Tue, 19 July 2011 07:00 Go to next message

Dear all,

I have an issue when comparing objects with the current EMF Compare
version (1.2.0).

When comparing two identical objects I still get a difference from EMF
Compare where it says, that it was "moved from null to null".

I found this bug: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=257720
which sounds as if it is the same but it was set to resolved a while ago.

Any idea where this might be coming from? It even appears when I use the
same object/model twice as input for the compare.

I can't attach the model because it is too large and I couldn't
reproduce it with a small one.

Thanks for your help,
Birgit

Birgit,

Without a way to reproduce, I can't really say what could cause this except maybe for this one : https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=351594 . EMF Compare fails to properly detect some of the changes when they refer to an added object. I don't remember if what we show is "from null to null" ... but that rings a bell. Do you have an NPE in the error log when EMF Compare displays that difference?

If that is it, this is one of the bugs that is planned for 1.2.1. Otherwise, could you provide us with the models to reproduce if they are not confidential (if you cannot attach them to bugzilla/forum, use direct mail (laurent (dot) goubet (at) obeo (dot) fr))?
