Here is what I would like to do with eclipse.

Here are the roles that I define :


  • Root : machine administrator
  • Group administrator : administrate the group of users
  • User : the end user.


Eclipse will be installed in a directory by root. It will only be readable by other users.
Group administrator will define in a specific place a bunch of plugin the user will be using by default and a set of configuration like proxy setting code style available commonly for its users.
User will have a space where he can install his own plugin and he will also be able to see and use the plugins installed by the administrator.
He will also be able to set his own preferences and settings configuration.

I tried to play with the osgi shared configuration but failed to have it working properly.
