I am an absolute newbie to Eclipse seeking to develop Android apps.

I have installed "Eclipse IDE for Java Developers", helios, SR2, 32 bit on Win 7 HP

Somewhere during the ADT plug-in install, I must have done something wrong.

Now, when I try to run Eclipse, I get the following error message:

"The eclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its shared library"

It seems that I have at least two choices:

1. Find out how to help Helios find its shared library... or...

2. Do a complete uninstall and re-install...BUT I can't open eclipse and in does not show up in the control panel uninstall box.

I would appreciate any help offered.

Thanks

Here are my notes from getting started in Android development last summer:

Uninstalling Eclipse is just a matter of deleting the directory where
it's installed. Eclipse doesn't use the Windoze Registry or anything
like that, so just delete it and re-extract from the ZIP you downloaded.

Eric,

I understand that all I have to do to uninstall Eclipse Helios is to delete the file. However, when I try to do this, the delete aborts with the message "the folder or one of its files in use." How could this be? How do I get around this problem?

Close the program that is accessing the folder or a file in the folder.

I checked the Windows Task Manager. No application is running. How do I find out if a system program is using one of the files. Or a "process."

The easiest is just to bounce your system, then go delete it.

I guess what you mean by "bounce" is to shut off everything and reboot. Anyway, that's what I did and it worked.
