I saw that the latest weekly build supports gravatar images for
assignee, but how it is used ? The assignee must be an email address ?
It works with all connectors ?

I have a gravatar image associated with my email address but I'm using
nicknames for bug tracking, is there some way to map nicknames to email
addresses ?

Hi Marco,

in the current weekly build the Gravatar image is only shown if the assignee
of a bug uses an email address as the login (e.g. for Bugzilla). We are
considering extending that to support generic mappings of login ids to other
accounts, email addresses etc.

It would be great if you shared your thoughts and requirements on this bug:

I have the same issue with trac connector, assigned to "dmc" when my e-mail
address is associated with gravatar.
I will add my comment to this ticket because this is potentially useful :)
