Version 0.9: first steps cheat sheet error [message #667514]

Hello all,

this seems to be a new jubula forum and I cannot find my error here.

I followed the cheat sheet 001 First Steps Cheat Sheet.

I completed everything, but the test run.
When I execute the test, the reporting perspective shows the error:
execution error: "window activation failed."

Jubula cannot activate the "Adder" Window under test.

Can anybody help, please?

Hello Gerrit,

I have a couple of questions to narrow the problem down:

Are you activating the AUT explicitly as the first step of the test? If so, does it work if you choose a different activation method than TITLEBAR?

Is the AUT maximized already when the test starts?
- The AUT does have to be maximized to be able to be tested.

Does the Jubula client get minimized automatically (configurable in the preferences) when test execution begins?
- The AUT should be the next window to appear when the client is minimized - although if you want to be sure of this when many windows are open, there are ways of doing it:

Are you moving the mouse during test execution?
- Jubula sends real events, so you have to relinquish control of the keyboard and mouse during execution

If none of the above suggestions help, then could you say what OS you're using and provide any other details that might tell us more about the environment?

Hello Alex!

First of all, thanks for your prompt reply!

I changed activation method to AUT_DEFAULT
and it works!!!

FYI my OS is Windows 7 64bit and Jubula is standard download (32 bit version) from the website.

I observed this problem for myself at a workshop yesterday.

It seems that our click on the titlebar on Windows 7 hits the "minimize" button because of the titlebar layout (and because the adder is such a small application). I switched to "CENTER" and it worked.

Just a tip for anyone else who runs into this problem!
