How Do?

Can p2 director install anything into eclipse?

i would just love it if it could install server runtime environments for application servers such as websphere, tomcat, jboss and weblogic

can someone in eclipse p2 land please put me out of my misery? Rolling Eyes

yes, as long as there is a touchpoint and/or actions that are capable of
performing the install, and that something publishes the p2 metadata
that includes the install actions to execute.

There is a description of touchpoint instructions on the wiki.
Also checkout the concept "p2.inf" which is used to augment the regular
publishing of p2 metadata.

thanks once again for your time

i am having real trouble getting a grip on p2 and how i can get it to do what i require for server runtime environments and creating server local instances in eclipse

would it be possible for you t o recommend books or web tutorials that gives me a "Starter for Ten" please?

looks like p2 is mentioned in both these books

"OSGi and Equinox: Creating Highly Modular Java Systems"
