Hi All,

I needed to migrate from eclipse Helios on a Vista 32bit system to a Helios installation on Windows 7 64bit. So far, I was able to migrate my workspace but unfortunately, the process of copying & replacing the configuration/org.eclipse.core.runtime/.keyring file holding all my passwords doesn't seem to work this time. The passwords are not restored so that I'm asked for all my passwords again.

Is there any hint I need to know or any possibility of migrating my passwords or do I really need to start from scratch again?

Thank you very much in advance!

Cheers,
Eric

Did you try exporting/importing your Preferences from/to the old and new
workspaces?

Hi Eric,

thank you for your reply.

Would you mind telling me how to import my old settings?

Thank you very much in advance!

It means from your existing workspace, choose File -> Export -> General
-> Preferences, then do the opposite (File -> Import -> General ->
Preferences) in the new workspace.

Hi Russell,

unfortunately, that doesn't seem to work. The passwords are not restored.

Seems like I really need to start from scratch again ...

Passwords are no longer stored in the keyring file. They can now be found under C:\Users\<yourlogin>\.eclipse\org.eclipse.equinox.security\secure_storage.

I haven't tried it, but you should be able to copy that file over to the new machine.

Hi John,

thank you for the useful information!

Can I find this information anywhere in the documentation for future reference or is this advanced knowledge not needed to be documented?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Guys

copying the "secure_storage" file from win7 3.8 to win8 4.2.2 dont work. Is there another way?

Thank you.

ciao, Stefan

edit: i have created a new FTP Connection. As next i have compared the new password with the old one in the secure_storage file. They are different. That's bad, or?
