Hello:

I have yet to install Eclipse.
I want to have the following in an IDE.
1)Java
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-ide-java-d evelopers/heliossr2

2)C++/C
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-ide-cc-lin ux-developers-includes-incubating-components/heliossr2

3)Modeling
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/node/508
Does this modeling tool has code generation?

The forum link below discuss how to combine (1) and (2) above.
http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=msg&goto=55713 8&S=6dd6e4d0e1caa4566f3637a1759f36c7

Question: Do I do the "same" procedure to include (3) into the IDE?

"Same" means this:
"I think that you can install one of the "pre-builded" IDEs for example Eclipse for Java Developers and then go to Help -> Install new software and insert the repositorie url of the other project."
as discussed in the above forum thread (link).

I also looked at Eclipse Classic at this link:
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/node/506

which has this vague description:
"The classic Eclipse download: the Eclipse Platform, Java Development Tools, and Plug-in Development Environment, including source and both user and programmer documentation."

I am not sure what "Plug-in Development Environment" consists of?

I am not sure if eclipse classic has all the above three items such that I only have to install it as opposed to the above three IDEs.

Alternative solution:
From this link:
http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=msg&goto=65398 7&S=a40eb4d9a547ef83c5f82ce4d4f6eef1

It appears I can install Eclipse for Java and C++ in its own separate folders, e.g. folder name like so : EclipseJDT, and EclipseCDT.
However, can I install the modeling tool, item (3) above, into each IDE?
Where is the link for the modeling tool plug-in?

Is there a license fee for using JEE on distributed systems or servers?

Please advice..
Cheers....

The various packages are essentially subsets of the complete set of all
features/bundles available in the helios repository. Given any
installation of any package, you should be able to add/install whatever
features you want to combine. The installer is smart, and will install
any dependencies needed for the features you select.

There are no fees for using anything you fetch from Eclipse

Here is probably what i should do:
Install each instant of eclipse IDE, say Eclipse CDT and JDT
in two folders, namely EclipseJDT folder, and EclipseCDT folder.

I have installed JDT and going thru its tutorial. Great IDE!
Then i will install Eclipse CDT, again in separate folder.

Since you mention Eclipse installer is smart,
how do I prevent Eclipse CDT from installing it into Eclipse JDt a as a plug-in?

Question about Java EE.

Say I develop Java EE apps, and put it on a server with java EE Virtual Machine,
do I have to pay Oracle licensing fee to use its JEE VM?
is there a GNU / GPL JEE VM or similar FREE ( as in Freedom and no fees)?

Cheers.

That works. Then you can only use them separately. A workspace can't be
used in more than one IDE at a time...

You could update the one installation you have to include it.

You invoke the installer I spoke of from the running IDE, so don't do
that if you don't want it.

is the answer "NO" apply to both questions above?

I don't know of one. It's not really an Eclipse question is it?
