Hi Stéphane,

thanks for quick answer. Wink What are the differences between version 3.0.x and 3.1.x? Are there general changes or performance improvements and bugfixing?

Best regards
Maik

Hi,

Acceleo 3.1 already includes several new features that you can see here:
http://sbegaudeau.tumblr.com/post/961722949/user-interface-i mprovements-in-acceleo-3-1

The roadmap for Acceleo 3.1 contains performance improvements and bug fixing of course but also new features like improved support for output languages of the generation, better integration for Ant and Maven etc.

Hi,

Being able to launch the Acceleo compiler and the Acceleo generation from Ant and Maven easily in stand alone mode (without any dependencies with Eclipse).

Hi Stéphane,

sounds good. I'am already use acceleo with maven and ant. i wrote my own maven plugin for calling acceleo for UML metamodels. It works fine and is very quickly.

Best regards
Maik

Hi Stéphane,

i saw that Acceleo version 3.1 is out. Are there some maven or ant improvements? If yes could you describe the improvements?

Do i need the lpg.runtime.java in Acceleo 3.1 dependency for calling Acceleo compiler and generator outside Eclipse?

Best regards
Maik

Hi,

lpg.runtime.java is needed by OCL and Acceleo needs OCL so yes.

If you want to use Acceleo with Maven or Ant, you can use those links:
1- A blog post from me showing a step by step guide to build an Acceleo generator with maven: here
2- An open source UML to Java generator that I've created. It contains all the necessary files to build it with maven (download the source, then "mvn clean package" and you have a nice update site ready to go). You can have a look, fork it and even contribute to it if you want: here
3- The Acceleo 3.1 user guide on the Obeo Network with the documentation dedicated to the integration of Acceleo in an Ant or Maven based workflow: here

You can find lots of information about Acceleo on my blogs here, there and on twitter. The Obeo Network also contains resources for Acceleo like the Best Practices guide and countless of videos of all the features of Acceleo.

Finally, you can find all the new features of Acceleo 3.1 in this blog post.

By the way, those looking to get the latest release of Acceleo should use the Acceleo 3.1 update site: http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/m2t/acceleo/updates/releases/3.1

Hi Stephane,

thanks for your quick answer. My questions regards to the most interesting feature of acceleo. Running outside of eclipse as standalone maven or ant task. I use Acceleo 3.0.x with an own developed maven task. Is the ant task enhanced in Acceleo 3.1 or includes Acceleo 3.1 an additional maven task to start a generation outside of eclipse as part of build or pom file?

Best regards
Maik

Hi,

In order to start a generation from Ant, Acceleo delivers Ant tasks in the "tasks" folder of your Acceleo project. If you are using maven, you can also directly call the Java launcher class generated with a main template, you just have to get the dependencies of Acceleo in the classpath and then call the main method. In order to test your generator, you can try to run it with the "Java Application" runner in the run configuration.
