I see that package names usually start with a top-level domain backwards, such as:
com.example.packageName

What is the convention for package names if the package will not be used on a machine with a TLD? For instance, if I am doing my Java homework on my home Ubuntu box with no web server, what package name should I use by convention?

Also, why are the TLDs backwards in the package name convention?
