Automatic aontent assist for PDT and Web development tools not working [message #651448] Sun, 30 January 2011 20:26 Go to next message

Hi,

I installed eclipse along with the PHP & Web Development tools. But I cant get auto content assist to work for html and css (they work for php).

I done what the help file said and went to window > preferences > web > html > editor and checked "automatically make suggestions" and left the default "<=" in the box below it.

However when i try typing "<" to start, content assist doesn't pop up automatically.

For CSS I couldn't even find where to turn it on.

For php i just ticked auto activated under the content assist tab in php found under window > preferences

What do I need to do to make it work for html and CSS?

Thanks.

If no one comes along to help here, try the Eclipse PDT forum instead.

Hi Jonas,

The CSS editor does not have any automatic content assist triggers. The only way for you to invoke content assist in the editor is through the tried-and-true Ctrl-Space.

Now the HTML editor on the other hand, that does have automatic content assist. So, I guess I have a couple questions for you.

1. Is it a blank file? Automatic content assist does not appear to work in a completely-empty file. Looks like you need to at least have the <!DOCTYPE>
2. Does regular content assist work (via Ctrl-space)?
