Tomcat 7 [message #651267] Fri, 28 January 2011 11:20 Go to next message

I'm using Eclipse Helios on openSuse 11.3.
I just installed Tomcat 7 and it works fine.
I added Tomcat 7 to Eclipse by mean of Window -> Preferences -> Servers -> Runtime Environment -> Add.
But I can't achieve Tomcat starts.
Any idea?

I'm newbie in Eclipse and Tomcat, so I'd appreciate details.

Thank you, so much.

It's difficult to help without a lot more details. What are the steps
you followed, at what point did Tomcat not start, what did it say when
it didn't start, etc.?

Thank you, Russell, for aswering.
I finish to configure Tomcat for Eclipse.
I copied catalina.policy, server.xml, tomcat-users.xml and web.xml files from "/usr/share/apache-tomcat-7.0.6/conf/" to the Servers folder in the Package Explorer on Eclipse.
And then, change the ports used for Tomcat instance for Eclipse in server.xml file.
That's all.

Thank you again.

First, understand that I haven't use Tomcat 7 so far. My experience with
previous versions is that Tomcat is very easy to set up for use with
Eclipse and has so far never involved copying any files whatsoever. I
have on occasion, however, edited server.xml to change from using port
8080 to another.

My experience setting up previous versions of Tomcat is detailed in the
third article of
http://www.javahotchocolate.com/tutorials/eclipse-summary.ht ml

I hope this helps.

If you have deeper Tomcat questions, you may wish to frequent the
eclipse.webtools forum and also read the Tomcat FAQ at
