I am entirely new to BIRT. I took the tutorials and watched the videos here, http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/examples/. I know how to create the reports using eclipse, however, what I'd like to know is how to go about learning how to create java code that will allow a user to create, generate, run and display the report. My end goal is that I will have a website that will allow users to do all this stuff, and the report generated will display in my website. I've read the Birt Report Engine API and the Report Viewer and the Design Engine API here, http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/deploy/. Now I've yet to find a walk through or a tutorial that will help me out with achieving my goal. Can anybody point me to a site or give me any advice that will help? Thanks in advance.

There are a lot of examples and webinars in the www.birt-exchange.org
devshare. You can also look in the wiki on the eclipse site:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/Integration_Examples_%28BIRT%29
Specifically look at deploying the engine as a servlet
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Servlet_Example_%28BIRT%29_2.1
and for dynamic creation or modifying a report look at
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Java_-_Dynamic_Report_Servlet_%28BIR T%29
