Hi everyone,

some days ago I started to set up a dev enviroment for Helios following the EMF Getting Source guide as I want to start on bug 245014.

Before I continue I'll update the wiki page and document the issues I ran into to help other interested people.

Starting point:

  • Vanilla Eclipse for RCP and RAP Developers
  • Followed the section "Developing on Eclipse 3.4" in the guide

Issues:

  • Team Project Set files apparently out of date, had to checkout the necessary projects manually
  • Plugin com.google.gwt.user was missing, downloaded it via Orbit
  • Some RAP runtime plugins were missing, added them to the target platform
  • To get the nested workspace running I had to disable all org.eclipse.emf.rap* and org.eclipse.rap* plugins in the run configuration (necessary since RAP provides SWT and JFace implementations)

Other than that the nested instance seems to work fine, had no problems to define a very basic model and generate the classes.

If you have any comments please let me know.

Cheers,
Marian

It's hard to keep everything up to date...

The GWT stuff is new in the last release.

The full RAP integration is new as well.

Yes, if you're not wanting to work on RAP, you're better to leave these
plugins out entirely. We probably ought to have separate project file
sets for these additional things.

I appreciate others helping keep the wiki up-to-date.
