Empty compartment still showing [message #624689]

I'm trying to reduce the visual size of left artifacts and packages in a
package diagram. But the content compartment seems to have a minimum size
equal to the size of the title compartment, even if there's no content,
even if I select hide compartment. This seems to me related to bug
265583, which is marked fixed. Is there definitive documentation of how
to do this somewhere?
