Add (optional?) file transfer support to presence providers? [message #605139] Mon, 26 June 2006 16:46 Go to next message

I have a use case where I would like a server to be able to receive and
store files sent from instant messaging clients.

Could this be done by adding some new API's to the presence plugin? Or
perhaps this by the same container having an adapter for both
IFileShareContainer and IPresenceContainer? In that case, maybe an
example of this could be done with the Yahoo! provider?

I might even be willing to contribute, but I've just started learning
the ECF APIs and have got practically no experience with communication
protocols.

This would be a very good way to do this.

Yes, it could.

Why don't you file an enhancement request to http://bugs.eclipse.org for
the ECF project, that way whether you or others work on it the request
will not be lost.

I filed bug: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=148855

If you need any help getting started with this, let me know.

Cheers,
