Why does "Driver Definition" include connection properties? [message #583562] Tue, 19 December 2006 09:04

Hi,

I didn't have a look yet into the DTP EMF models, but at least in the UI
it seems that a Driver Definition includes properties of the actual
connection, like connection URL, database name etc.

Shouldn't these be two seperate things, the Driver Definition and the
Connection Definition? Currently, if I want to connect to two different
databases using the same JDBC driver, I have to specify JDBC driver jar
+ class name for each connection. That's redundant (something that
should ring a bell in the ears of DB vendors' employees, shouldn't it ;-)

Regards,
Jörg
