EXTOL is located in Pottsville, PA. You will be working on location.
POSITION
You will serve as project leader for the development effort of the next version of EXTOL Business Integrator (EBI 3). EBI 3 is major step forward in the evolution of our successful Integration platform, and is being built afresh using cutting-edge and modular technology both on the client (RCP), and server (OSGi/ESB) side. You will be able to employ your extensive experience leading and managing development projects to help the development team define and execute their individual and collective assignments. You will assist in the development effort as needed, but your main responsibility will be to make sure that the project stays on track - in terms of completion and quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand the architecture of the new system being developed and the roles and abilities of each member of the team.
Break the project into modules that can be implemented, managed, and tracked.
Develop and execute a development plan, including modules, responsibilities, schedules, goals, and the tools that will be used to track progress.
Collaborate with other team members to finalize the plan and evolve it when necessary.
Execute on the plan, holding regular progress meetings in which every team member understands the status of each aspect of the project and what must be done going forward.
Identify and resolve any impediments to progress, doing whatever is necessary, individually and in collaboration with team members, to eliminate the impediment and enable that aspect of the project to proceed.
Contribute technically, as needed, to the development effort.
REQUIRED
The best candidate for this position will have a strong technical background and dedication to customer satisfaction.
5 - 7 years as a project leader in a software product development environment, with a track record of using the Eclipse platform to build robust commercial applications, from initial delivery to subsequent follow-up releases.
Astute command of the Eclipse development environment (e.g. SWT/JFace, Workbench, Resource model, Builder framework, Debugger framework, Jobs API, Help framework)
Understanding of Eclipse Modeling (e.g. EMF, Model transformation [XPand, ATL, QVT])
Working experience with Java, XML, and JDBC.
Strong research skills, with the ability to research available options and then cohesively present considerations, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
Professional and thorough communication skills - written and verbal
Organized, detailed, strong worth ethic
Team player - lead by example, willing to pitch in as needed, mentor and be mentored
Practical approach to problem-solving
PREFERRED:
Experience using Eclipse Graphical Modeling Framework (GMF), and Graphical Editing Framework (GEF)
Knowledge of OSGi architecture and ESB technology
A working understanding of popular provisioning systems (e.g. P2) in the Eclipse/OSGi environment
Experience in distributed and redundant system architecture and design
Practical experience using established relational database systems (e.g. DB2, Oracle)
SALARY: $90,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience
