How to save simulation as a video file? [message #563849] Thu, 03 June 2010 06:01 Go to next message

Has anyone an idea how to save the running simulation as a video, right now?
Maybe this could be an additional feature in later releases of STEM.

Yes, Camtasia studio works for windows.

On Mac, quicktime player has a screen recording feature that works pretty good.

We currently have an internal plug-in that saves the map image to an image file (PNG) for each simulator cycle. We postprocess those images into animation sequence movies.

One thing that might be interesting to investigate is the VLC Java API (or ffmpeg?) that could automatically create the movie from Java. One issue might be that VLC uses GPL license. I think VLC also has issues with OSGi, but that might be mainly an SWT/AWT issue with playback. We probably aren't worried about playback.
