hi,
I found a report example who create a series of charts dynamically based on the data in the report http://www.birt-exchange.org/devshare/designing-birt-reports /1180-dynamic-chart-creation/#description
but I dont know how regroup same elements in same category on chart and legend.

hi,

If you open this report you can see Top 5 Sales by Product Line.

what i want to have is total sales by product line. so that if products have same name we display the sum of their sales.

Take a look at this example. Note that I turned off display of the rows
using the visibility property.
I made one table and nested two groups - productline and then
productname. I put the chart in the group footer for product line but
put the group2(productname) in the category definition. I added an
aggregation for total sum per product name and this is what I used for
the orthogonal value.
