I was under the impression that any report can be used as a data source in
its own right. Does anyone know where the documentation is that shows how
to do this? When I go to create a new data source it is not readily evident
how to select a report as the data source itself.
Thanks

Byron,
In the open source designer this is currently not implemented. In the
Actuate product you can use an rptdocument as a datasource.
