As I see, one can define a column spanning by using
gridItem.setColumnSpan(). Is it possible to define a row spanning, too?

If not: is it a Windows limitation or a Nebula limitation? (in order to
know whether waiting for this feature is hopeless or not)

Nebula-Grid is custom drawn and so there are "NO" limitations you'll see
on native controls. The reason it lacks this feature is simply that no
one had time to implement it :-). You are free to file a bug and work on
a patch.
