Problem with text editor going blank. Restart doesn't fix. [message #528695] Wed, 21 April 2010 10:03 Go to next message

All of a sudden I'm having an issue where the editor window will go blank. One of the fold plus signs is visible on the left, and warning flags are visible on the right, and even shift up and down when I open and close the fold. But there's nothing in between except a flashing vertical black line at the left margin. This happens with Java and XML files. Basically, I can't see anything in the editor pane from any file.

I didn't touch the Eclipse configuration, the Java environment, or anything else. If course, something that came down in Windows update, or similar, could have changed something elsewhere.

I did do an update (in eclipse), but that didn't solve the problem. Restarting eclipse doesn't solve the problem. Rebooting Windows has fixed the problem.

I'm on Windows XP SP3. I have Eclipse IDE for Java Developers, Build id: 20100218-1602. I have TPTP, Mylyn, WTP, CollabNet and Tigris SVN plugins.

Any help would be most welcome.
Thanks!
Batkins

Is there anything in the error log? It sounds like a problem with low
Windows resources, e.g., a failure to fetch a font handle or some such. Or
is it possible that your selected font for editor windows is no longer
available on your system? What happens if you try selecting a different
font?
