I was wondering if anyone had any insight into resolving EMF dependencies conflicts relating to VE (see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=301766)

Eric,

As Rich mentioned in the bugzilla, it seems to be caused by conflicting
JEM features.

Well..that wasn't there earlier... Smile

So VE needs (and/or provdes) one version of JEM and WST needs (and/or provides) another version JEM.

Unless there is a specific reason for one...Does JEM need to be removed from both and include some dependency to externally provided version of JEM so they use the latest and greatest?

Isn't it possible to have both versions available? Or does this head towards dependency h*ll?

So what is the way something like that gets resolved?

I'm not sure, but that's a VE question or something to ask in the
bugzilla, not an EMF question.

I seem to recall issues with the Galileo version of VE not installing
with the Galileo version of EMF/WTP because of strict upper bound
constraints, but again, that's a VE question.

No, only one can be active at a time so unless VE can work with the
latest that WTP itself requires, then either VE will not work (because
it doesn't work with the latest) or WTP will not work, because it
requires a newer version of EMF.

It's a road paved with good intentions.

VE is not the most lively project. :-(
