Hi
We are semi new users of subversion. Some time ago I have decided to migrate source code
from CVS to SVN.
During first state we move few small projects. In next step we move one huge project.
It contains about 45500 files, size 750 MB.
Now I try to work with HEAD stream and few stable branches. But work is like nightmare :(
Today update operation on this project took more than hour. It was update of few thousand
files.
We try to profile problems on server side, but seams that problems rather are on client
side during:
- update caches
- refresh resources
- etc ...
It seams that operation synchronize which collect list of files didn't help in next step
like update - seams like whole huge project is updated.
Also during revert changes on many files seams like operation is made on each files separately.
For test - I have deleted this project and checkout it again from SVN - it took about 11
minutes. So it seams that delete and checkout is faster than synchronize + update :(
I think there is problem with my setup and configuration but maybe you can provide me some
value feedback. How to configure SVN client to achieve at least similar performance like on CVS.
I use my machine to work with CVS and SVN - also CVS and SVN server are on one machine, so
I can compare operations made on both solutions.
My client environment:
Eclipse 3.5.1
Subversive SVN Team Provider (Incubation) 0.7.8.I20090904-1300
Subversive SVN Connectors 2.2.0.I20090505-1500
SVNKit 1.3.0 Implementation (Optional) 2.2.0.I20090505-1500
thank you for any help - best regards Maciek
