I changed an ItemProvider class so that it includes a child's property elements(similar to what is in the Eclipse Series EMF book p 577).

Now the parent property sheet has a "Misc" category and a new category for the child's property elements.

1) How do you change the name of "Misc" to something else?

2) BY default the Misc category is not expanded and the child category is expanded. How do you set up so that only
the top level Misc category is expanded?

The plugin.properties has keys for all the things that would potentially
be translated to another language.

I'm not sure how that works. I don't think there's any direct control
over what's expanded initially nor do I think there's any API to control
it...
