EMF Compare Editor: How to add text compare tab? [message #509499] Fri, 22 January 2010 16:01 Go to next message

Hi!

I wonder if it is possible to add a tab to the EMF Compare Editor to
enable viewing the differences both in the graphical and in a textual
comparison.

I already tried extending MessageContentMergeViewer, but found out that
tabs can not be added by simply subclassing and overwriting methods.

Can you give me any hints to extend the editor re-using the text compare
function of eclipse? Possibly this function is interesting for other
users, so it could be integrated in the EMF Compare plugin?

Thanks in advance,
David

David,

We've never implemented "textual" tabs for the compare editor as new
versions of the platform (from Eclipse 3.5 onward) allow users to switch
from EMF Compare to text comparisons and vice versa directly from the
compare editor.

If you wish to implement this feature for EMF Compare in earlier
versions of Eclipse, you'll have to take a look at the
ModelContentMergeTabFolder, ModelContentMergeDiffTab,
ModelContentMergePropertyTab and the remainder of the EMF Compare UI code.
