Hello!

When will WTP release a server runtime for JBoss 6? Also, when will we see support for CDI, JPA 2 and JSF 2 in WTP?

Thank you.

Marcos

Hi Marcos,

JBoss 6 should run with the WTP server definition for 5.0, too.

The only difference might be that some new libraries could be missing (e.g.
WebBeans). If you find one of those, you can add if to
" eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.jst.server.generic.jboss_1.6.1.v 200904151730\servers\jboss5.serverdef ".

Best regards

Wolfgang

I haven't even tried that. It's good to know that.

It's a pity. That was exactly what I was looking for: support for stuff like WebBeans (CDI) built into the server runtime. Also it would be good to see support in the IDE (editors) for JSF 2 and JPA 2.

Thank you, Wolfgang.

Hi,

if you need only the references to the WebBeans jars to code your own stuff,
this modified JBoss plugin might help:

http://www.cs.hs-rm.de/~knauf/public

The "JBoss 5.1" server runtime includes the WebBeans jars. If JBoss 6 contains
more jars which are missing, please tell me.

The other stuff is up to the WTP team, and it will probably take one or two
years until JavaEE6 is fully supported.

Best regards

Wolfgang

Yes, your plugin will help for now because I just need the WebBeans jars. Regarding the delay for one or two years for full support in WTP, maybe the JBoss Tools support arrive first for this purpose, because even one year is too much time.

Thank you again.

While is sounds there was some useful discussion on this topic, I did
want to clarify that it would not be "WTP" that would release a runtime
server (adapter) for JBoss 6 ... it would be JBoss. So you might ask
them, on their forums. (At most, WTP might provide a "pointer" to make
it easier to obtain/install, and I'm sure the JBoss team knows how to
tap into that, if they wanted to).

Thanks,
