I may not be able to produce this at will but it occurs at least a few times within a few hour-session.
I'm using eclipse 3.4.1 and I'm programming in Java.
Every once in a while, for instance after pasting some text or asking to overwrite a method, all my typed characters show as wierd ones. Most of them look european.
My keyboard language is set to US English and I'm on Vista 64bit.
If at this moment I paste anything it is ok however anything typed is not what I pressed on the keyboard.
I tried changing the encoding of my resources to ISO-8859-1, US-ASCII, Cp1252; nothing made a difference.
In order to fix this I have to exit and start Eclipse again.
Any feedback is appreciated.

You might also want to try posting this on eclipse.platform.swt, and/or
searching Bugzilla to see if anyone has had similar problems.
Is it possible that you have some applet on your computer (say, a task bar
thing) that is grabbing some keystroke and switching you to an alternate
language input? A keyboard driver, a video driver, ...? I'm just wondering
if you're accidentally hitting some keystroke that it is interpreting as a
hot-key combination, switching you to a different language.

If you hold down left Alt+left Shift at the same time, you change the
Windows keyboard layout for the current application. For instance, in my
system I switch from it-IT keyboard layout to en-US by using left
Alt+left Shift. If you press the combination again, you'll turn back to
the default keyboard layout.
You can see the changes and/or adjust settings in Control Panel |
Regional and Language Options | Languages | Details... (under Text
services and input languages). By activating the Language Bar you can
see the current keyboard layout in the task bar. Please note that I'm
talking about Windows XP, so for Windows Vista the same settings may be
reached using a slighltly different path.
Maybe your problem is related to the fact that you inadvertently change
the keyboard layout.
HTH.
