Hi all,

I'm considering using Ridget in RAP. Has anybody tried this before ? Do
they get along together ?

Setya,

support for Riena is one of our plan items. The foremost goal will
be to enable the use of Riena Ridgets. We anticipate to have first
results for M4.

I did not see Riena mentioned in
http://www.eclipse.org/rap/noteworthy/news_13M4.php

What's the status there? My interest is if redView http://redview.org/ will
be working with RAP.

Our first goal will be to have the Riena Ridgets running on RAP. Mainly
the renderers cause problems as they use GC. We will be working togehter
with Riena on a solution.

We also have a close eye on redView. If running redView on RAP is
possible in the near future will (among other issues) depend on what
parts of Riena it uses. The screenshots suggest that it also uses Riena
presentation suuport. Did you already state your interest there (at
redView)?

Ekke (redview master ;-) ) knows that I am interested in redview. However I
will can only start to evaluate if we can use redview (and which parts of
it) once it's been released publicly.

Hi Rüdiger, I just checked M5 and it still does not mention Riena :-(

I started playing with Ridgets and I like the validations they provide. I
wish they would work with RAP already ;-)

When do you think Riena support will be available?

Hi Lothar,

me and Christian (from the Riena team) are currently taking the first steps of porting our Ridgets to RAP. We will show this at EclipseCon. I expect some of this to be in the next Riena Milestone (2.0 M6).

However I can't promise anything concrete with regards to delivery dates or scope. Maybe Christian, who is leading Riena, can say more.

In general both RAP and Riena's commitments depend heavily on the requirements of the customer's that fund our work. Both projects are free to consume but cost money to develop. If you are willing to sponsor some of the work to speed things up, we would be more than happy to discuss it.

Most of the important stuff has already been said. Some of the Riena ridgets are already working in RAP since these guys did a great job in getting the missing pieces done. (in the ui layer) Still what is missing are changes in Riena so that you switch from org.eclipse.ui to org.eclipse.rap.ui etc.

So Ridgets is something that is doable, the riena navigation is more tricky and requires more effort.

So we planning on showing something on the EclipseCon but as Elias said we cannot promise how far we get.

If you can a share a little more, what you are doing, how we can help concrete, if you like to work together with us, even contribute, that would be really appreciated.
