Hi there:
I want to use the UML tool to draw some model diagram, which will
subsequently used in a latex report. So I am wondering whether the tool
can export the diagrams to a convenient format like PDF that can be
easily integrated into the latex documentation.

Hi Michael,
Yes, it is possible.

In the context menu of the diagram choose 'File>Save as Image File' action.
A wizard will be opened.
Select 'Image Format' field of the wizard, in the droop-down listchoose 'PDF'
value.
Press 'OK'. That's it.
