UML Diagram Creation [message #474230] Wed, 16 April 2008 04:30 Go to next message

Hello.
I'm new to Eclipse. I'm working on a team project where we are to create
our models and generate executable Java code within this framework.

I've successfully installed all zip files and build dependencies for both
UML2 and UML2Tools.

I'm attempting to create a UML deployment diagram by performing the tasks,
File --> New --> Other --> "select a wizard" UML 2.1 Diagrams --> UML
deployment diagram. After doing this, the next screen states "no folder
specified"; "enter or select parent folder:".

I don't know what to place here and I cannot create the diagram without
referencing a folder. Also, I've been unable to find a tutorial to assist
me.

I'd appreciate any guidance you could provide.

Belinda

Hi Belinda,

In Eclipse, all user content has to be in a project. It seems you
haven't created a project yet (If you had indeed created a project in
Eclipse, please ignore the rest of this message). Here is a link to the
New Project Wizard documentation:

http://help.eclipse.org/help33/topic/org.eclipse.platform.do c.user/reference/ref-37.htm

You might want to run through the Workbench basic tutorial:

http://help.eclipse.org/help33/topic/org.eclipse.platform.do c.user/gettingStarted/qs-01.htm

The online help is also available locally (just press F1).

Most wizards in Eclipse and Eclipse-based projects will share the same
style as the one provided by the UML2 Tools. If you need more help
getting around Eclipse (things not related to the UML2 Tools), I suggest
you ask questions on the newcomer newsgroup:

http://www.eclipse.org/newsportal/thread.php?group=eclipse.n ewcomer

Cheers,

Rafael
