"Suppress infopop when only one target" (bug 88822) update [message #474096] Tue, 24 June 2008 16:00
Eclipse UserFriend
One of my biggest remaining gotchas in Eclipse help is the way that when
a user invokes context-sensitive help by clicking a button or pressing
F1, an "infopop" dialog or related-topics help page appears, and the
user has to click a link to open the help target. This makes no sense
when there's only one target, which is always the case in our products.

I logged this bug in March 2005, and it was reported resolved and fixed
for 3.3 in late 2006, but in fact it regressed and never worked in
release versions of 3.3.x.

It is working in 3.4 RC4 and should be in 3.4.0.

Note that in 3.3.0, if you leave out the supposedly optional
<description> element in order to trigger the infopop suppression,
you'll get "unhandled event loop exception" errors in .workspace\.log
and a blank infopop / help page. I'm not sure if those were fixed in
3.3.1, but the errors and blank page are fixed in 3.3.2.
