I just download eclipse 3.3RC1 and used the update site to get the latest
uml tools. i can create a diagram, but i can not drag anything from the
palette to the canvas. also when i hover the cursor over the canvas the
pop up components are also disabled.

the same thing happens for all diagram types.

is this a known issue or is there something wrong from with the install?

Hi John Gilbert!

In GMF-generated tools different approach for element creation is used. In
order to create element user clicks(and releases) the appropriate tool from
palette and then clicks the canvas. On the place of click new element will
be created.
I hope this tip will help.

Best wishes,
Tatiana.

Hi all,

I've got the same problem (using europa RC1). All tools are disabled.
Here is what I've done:
- New UML class diagram. Keep everything to default.
=> I have a default.uml and a default.umlclass_diagram files.
=> the default.umlclass_diagram editor is opened but all tools are
unavailable. I select a component in the palette (a class for instance)
by clicking and releasing the mouse, then I click on the canvas but
nothing happens. In fact each time I select a tool, I get the
"forbidden" cursor on the canvas.

Now I created a class in the default package from the default.uml file
editor. I cannot see (or do anything to see) the class in the opened
editor. I need to create a new class diagrame to see the class. In this
new class diagram, nothing is editable neither. I can't add any
operation or attribute.

In other words, I can't do anything with the UML editor.

Best regards,

Maxime

PS: please notice that the data tools plugin is not installed in europa
RC1. I don't know if there is a dependency there.

Hi!

I've just checked the situation.
I've unzipped eclipse-SDK-3.3M7-win32.zip, emf-sdo-xsd-SDK-2.3.0M7.zip,
emf-query-SDK-1.1M7.zip , emf-transaction-SDK-1.1M7.zip,
emf-validation-SDK-1.1M7.zip, GEF-SDK-3.3M7.zip, mdt-ocl-SDK-1.1M7.zip taken
from www.eclipse.org and installed UML2Tool, GMF and UML2 user-features from
Europa update-site.
Let's consider two cases:
1) Create new diagram. Everuthing is OK
2) Reopen diagram created with previos version of UML2Tool (M6). It is
possible to create new elements, elements created in *.uml file are shown on
diagram.

Is there anything in a .log file? Please, send us your error log content.

I hope, the problem will be solved very soon.
Tatiana.

Indeed there is a stack trace which repeats itself in the .log file.
It's about diagram decoration, so I guess this is the problem.
To be more precise, I installed eclipse 3.3 RC1 and all europa plugins
available on europa update site the 23th. So it was europa RC1 without
data tools plugin (and without the plugins which depend on data tools).
Find the stack trace hereafter.

=> I have a default.uml and a default.umlclass_diagram files.

Maxime

org.eclipse.stp.bpmn.diagram.part.BpmnDiagramEditorPlugin.ge tPreferenceStore(BpmnDiagramEditorPlugin.java:93)There is a compilation problem in org.eclipse.stp.bpmn plugin.'Override' is a Java 5 annotation.
