Changing default browse location of "File > Open File" [message #464612]

The "File > Open File" menu by default browses to C:\Documents and
Settings\<username>
I want to change this default to the 'workspace directory' or some other
location on the filesystem.
How can this be done?

It currently can't. Note that setting it to the workspace root makes not
much sense as 'Open File' is designed to open files that are outside the
workspace.

Hey guys,

There's a bugzilla for this issue:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=104045

Vote if you'd like it fixed.

The fix is dead easy (remove 3 lines from OpenExternalFileAction) and in
my opinion you get much better behaviour -- at least on Windows, where
the OS automatically keeps track of your last location, even when you
close and restart the app.
