Is there a way with SWT on windows to get the buttons to have the xp look?
Not being a windows gui programmer I am actually wondering why the
buttons still have the old square blocky look. If I open Word 2003 the
buttons are a lite blure and kind of round. That is what I am looking
for. I have noticed that when I terminal service into my windows xp box
it get the old look with the blocky looking buttons but if I am logged
into the box it get the xp nice modern round look. :-) Why? And again
how do I make SWT behave this way?

You have to place the javaw.exe.manifest file in the
same directory as the javaw.exe (i.e. the 'bin' directory) that is
being used to execute your app. This is very important. It has
to be the JRE that Eclipse (or whatever app) is using. I've found the
best way of ensuring this is to just place the manifest in every JRE
installed on the system. You'll find the javaw.exe.manifest file in
the org.eclipse.swt.win32_3.1.0\os\win32 (on Eclipse 3.1 pre M6)
directory and in the org.eclipse.swt.win32_3.1.0.jar file in
subdirectory os\win32 (on Eclipse 3.1 M6).
Quick side note, if you are using a native exe generator with an
embedded JRE (such as Install4J), you will have to rename the manifest
file accordingly. For instance, if your app is titled 'Panacea.exe',
you will have to rename the manifest 'Panacea.exe.manifest' and place
it in the same directory as the executable.
