But it looks like this newsgroup is not monitored by the project members.

ok, but you should notify the newsgroup, too.

simplest way:
- reply to the nagging newsgroup article and sent this message in parallel
via email-CC to the relevant entity (here i assume webmaster).
- thus readers get (with low effort for you) the 4W-transparency !
- "when, who, what, whom".

And if after one more week nothing happened, I know where to continue
nagging.
