Can't Debug JAR File Using JFrames [message #445997] Mon, 15 November 2004 22:43 Go to next message

How do I debug some a .jar (or any Java program) that uses JFrames (I think
this means it uses "swing")? My goal is to just debug an existing .jar file
without rebuilding it from the source (which I have), since rebuilding
would require various libraries. That, and it's huge.

What I did: I created a new project, added the .jar as a library (attached
the source code to it), right-clicked on it in the Package Explorer, and
hit Debug. However, no windows are showing up. If I run it from the
command-line, everything's fine. Does anybody know what's going on? Thanks
in advance!

You cannot debug a jar file as such. You have to hit "debug" on a *class*
of that jar-file holding a main method.

P.S. no x-posts please
