Can anyone give me a quick example of a call that works on one platform (say
Linux, or whatever) that has no good counterpart on another platform? It
doesn't matter which two platforms you choose. I just need an example that
witness the difficulty in translating GUI code from one platform to another.
Thanks.

How about OLE on Windows. It doesn't exist on Linux.
