Is it possible to make something similar to Swing's JInternalFrame using
SWT out of the box?

If not, would it be difficult to implement? Any examples out there?

No. Or at least not yet.

Here's a feature request for MDI:

I don't know how difficult it would be. But do you really need MDI?
