Here is the announcement (http://jcp.org/en/home/index):

"Java Bindings for OpenGL, JSR 231 and Java Bindings for OpenGL ES, JSR 239 plan
to work closely together to coordinate their standards development efforts. As a
result of this cooperation it will be easier for developers to port applications
from the ME space to the SE space and vice versa. JSR 231 will create a standard
API for access to hardware accelerated 3D graphics from a low level 3D graphics
library. Java Bindings for OpenGL ES (JSR 239) will cater especially to the
needs of those developers who are already familiar with OpenGL."

Does the OpenGL binding for SWT people have plans to stick to the JSR 231 specs,
as the final draft is due for public release this month ?

PS: as IBM is member of the Initial Expert Group, can we expect some active
commitment?

IBM does have a member in this expert group. The hope is that this can be
defined in a toolkit-independent way so that the swt bindings are no longer
needed in order to use opengl within swt.
