Hi, I see JPA 2.0 tolerance listed as a committed item in plans. Is this
specific to EclipseLink only or can it be made to apply to generic JPA
too? I'm trying to understand if there's any support or tolerance planned
for JPA 2.0 in Dali 2.2

Hi Neil thanks for the clarifications. I certainly understand how
providing general JPA 2.0 support in WTP 3.1 is not feasible given the
time remaining and the spec still being in flux.

Now if the next release of WTP (i.e. 3.2) were to hypothetically start
after the June'09 release and perhaps GA by the end of the year, do you
think a corresponding Dali 2.3 release could introduce generic JPA 2.0
support? Of course this is assuming the spec is frozen by then or close to
being final.

It'd be ideal to get some base JPA 2.0 support in a post wtp 3.1 release
(i.e. a JPA 2.0 facet with equivalent functionality as the current tooling
and support for the major 2.0 changes/additions to the meta-data, etc).

Thanks,
Len.

Len,

We don't have an official 2.3 plan yet, but I can say that our goal is to
have generic JPA 2.0 support in the next major release after 2.2. The
tentative plan was to do something like an end of year 09 release that
included generic JPA 2.0 support, with a JPA 2.0 facet version, etc.

Hope this helps,
Neil
