I have an SVN repository running on an Apache server that requires
client certificate authentication - this is on a Fedora Core8 host.

I get different behaviour on starting up Eclipse and trying to access
that repository with Subversive on different hosts but Eclipse and
Subversive configurations that are mostly the same.

On the same FC8 host, if the first thing I try is to update a project
from that repository it prompts for the client certificate passphrase
in an SSL Settings dialog and all seems to work.

On a Ubuntu Hardy host, starting up in the same way it hangs in the
update but if I go the SVN Repository perspective and open the
location properties I can go to the SSL settings tab, type in the
passphrase and with validate on finish set this seems to clear the
problem and the update then completes.

The Ubuntu host can also boot to Windows Vista and in that
configuration, the same process brings up an error dialog. On that
system I have both SVNKit and JavaHL, both fail with error dialogs
with slightly different messages.

Has anyone else tried client cert authentication?

All three configurations are using the same versions of Subversive and
the connectors (up-to-date as far as I can tell).

Does anyone have any idea why I get the necessary prompt on one system
but not on the others?

All is fine once I have supplied the passphrase but it would be nicer
not to have to go to the location properties explicitly every time.
