embedding swing in a view? [message #39762] Tue, 06 April 2004 11:54 Go to next message

Hi All,

I have now finally been able to integrate an existing swing based tool
to be used as a plugin in eclipse ... phew! :-)

Right now, I am launching it through a menu item and it runs in a
seperate window... What I would really like it to do is be embedded in a
view within the workbench. Migrating my tool completely to SWT would
involve substantial effort. Now, the book i am refering to [the
developers guide to eclipse] says

"Implementing an in place Swing and SWT hybrid workbench that
contributes to view or editors is not supported in SWT."

Is this true for eclipse 3.0 as well? if this is possible in eclipse 3.0
what extension point would i need to use to make this plugin a part
of the view?

Thanks for all your help and time...

Ask this question on the platform newsgroup, we are not UI litterate
around here.
Actually I think the question has already been answered in the platform
and some info are probably available on the swt web page.
If I remember it does not change anything in the way views are contributed.
