Encountering IUPA0020E while saving a method configuration [message #39065]

when I try to save modifications I have made to a method plug in, EPF
composer issues the mentioned error with following details:

/tmp/EPF/_XpG2EFheEdyvlbPOG_nH1Anew_y62TUKVPEdmMZJIzZ1W7Pw (Permission
denied)

Further investigations reveal that perhaps trying to save anything else
causes the same error to happen.
