Hello,

I am very interested in the flexible resources planned for e4, we are
trying to port one of our tools to Eclipse, and one of the main hurdles we
are facing is that our customers are used to adding files from anywhere in
the filesystem, so our project is just a list of filepaths (relative,
absolute or env variable based).

It was a pleasant surprise to find that such functionality is being
discussed for e4, and even some of it have been implemented (according to
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=252647) though, it seems,
not the file based projects.

Unfortunately I couldn't find an easy way to see whether this
functionality is implemented or planned, or has been dropped.

Can you please update us with the roadmap for e4 after 0.9?

I see from
http://www.eclipse.org/projects/project-plan.php?projectid=e clipse.e4 that
0.9 will include the fixes from 252647 but nothing else on resources, is
this correct?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Mamado

Best Regards,
Mohamed.

I've a question about the ActionScript VM (Run as ...) I tried all the
versions of e4 and I'm not be able to setup ActionScript VM. I followed
all the steps at
http://wiki.eclipse.org/E4/SWT/Running_the_demos more than five times
(on all Milestones and release candidates).

Entry eclipse.ini
-Dflex.sdk=C:/dev/swtflex/Flexsdk
it points to the Adobe open source Flex SDK

Hopefully you have some tips for me ...

I am sorry, but I haven't tried the ActionScript part, I think you can ask
a separate question on the newsgroup, with the exact error you face, and
for sure one of the Experts will jump in and provide help.

Mamado.

Hello,

Any updates on the file list based projects?

While searching around the e4 wiki, I found some mentions of features that
will be backported to 3.x, Is there a plan for such features? I would like
to understand what can be used in production now, what can be used in 6
month timeframe, and what must wait till '10?

Thanks and Best regards,
Mamado.

Hello,

The 0.9 release of e4 contains this flexible resources work, and it can
be easily installed into Eclipse 3.5 from the e4 update site:

http://download.eclipse.org/e4/downloads/drops/R-0.9-2009072 91930/repository

I suggest giving it a spin and provide feedback on the e4 mailing list,
newsgroup, or bugzilla.
